Switch Flight Controls from 'Tethered' to 'Locked' While in your ship: Press [X] to open the Quick Menu, scroll over to the gear symbol, press [F], look for the picture of a ship's rear end and press [Ctrl] + [1] together to Quick Bind it.
Yes there is a permenant marker everywhere you are that shows you right where your base is. You can warp too it too. If you have a teleporter on your base you can teleport directly to it from anywhere. The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
